ORCHARD OPPORTUNITIES - I'll be looking for part time help in the orchard, probably starting in May, depending on the weather, and lasting until fall. This would be an hourly paid position, 20-25 hours per week. No benefits other than Workers' Comp. insurance and fresh air. Send a reply with contact information to find out more. Also looking for a volunteer to clean out and set up bird houses. Also plant native pollinator flowers in planters to put around the orchard. I've not been very successful over the last couple of years that I have tried. I supply the materials, you supply the time and expertise. Pay will be in apples and raspberries. Send a reply if interested. ... See MoreSee Less

Honeycrisp (white flags) 85 Trees

Sweet, tart flavor that varies depending on maturity of apple. Great for eating fresh, baked into a crisp or pie, as applesauce, or apple butter.

Spartan (red flags, 31 trees)

Macintosh cross, with crisp and juicy texture that softens a bit after picking. Excellent for eating fresh and cooking; stores well.

Goodland (yellow flags, 15 trees)

Sweet and tart, crisp flesh. Excellent for eating and delicious applesauce.
Stores well.

Kerr Crab (purple flags, 4 trees)

This crab-apple works well for jelly, juice, baking and even for fresh eating, as it is firm, crisp and juicy, with a very good sweet-tart flavor. It is small size and dark purple-red color. They are ripe late in the season, usually October. They work very well in cider blends and are excellent keepers, up to 6 months when refrigerated.

Wealthy (blue flags, 10 trees)

Good eaten out of hand, makes good applesauce and cider, also nice baked into a crisp.

Goodmac (lime flags, 10 trees)

Another Macintosh cross. Great eaten out of hand and juices well, too. Stores well.

Haralson (dark green flag, 3 trees)

Sweet, tart flavor that varies depending on maturity of apple. Great for eating fresh, baked into a crisp or pie, as applesauce, or apple butter.

Liberty (orange flags, 27 trees)

Juicy with a great flavor, makes nice pink applesauce and good cider.
